Back Cover Copy for PARALLEL ATTRACTION

I'm so excited! I have my back cover copy, and any day now (literally) I will have my cover art. I think they did a great job (it was written by my editor, Louisa Edwards)on the copy. What do you guys think? Is this a book that would grab you based on the back cover?? :)

Here it is, back cover copy for PARALLEL ATTRACTION:

Parallel Attraction
Deidre Knight

“A fantastic and riveting new voice in paranormal fiction.”—Karen Marie Moning, New York Times bestselling author of Spell of the Highlander

From a “fantastic and riveting new voice in paranormal fiction”* comes a thrilling debut novel of danger and passion, and a love that will cross all boundaries of time and space.

It has been years since exiled alien king Jared Bennett thought of anything other than his people’s fight for freedom. Now his rebel force has the one weapon that can turn the tide against their enemy: the key to the secrets of time. Victory has never been closer—but one woman has the power to change everything.

Kelsey Wells can’t deny that there is something unearthly about her fierce attraction to Jared Bennett. His revelations about alien wars and time travel can’t possibly be fact—yet with every seductive touch, every searing kiss, Kelsey circles closer to the truth: that although Jared is exactly what he says, he hasn’t told her everything. And when the future crashes into the present, Kelsey must decide if his deception will cost them the love that should have been their destiny.

“At times humorous, at others heart-wrenching, but always compelling, Deidre Knight offers readers a fresh, wonderfully creative glimpse at the complexity of human decisions. What a page-turner!”—Gena Showalter, Author of Awaken Me Darkly

End quote

Good, except for the immediate repetition of the author blurb. Following right on that quote, the repetition adds nothing.

I can't wait to see the front cover either. And I certainly can't wait to buy the book!!

hedvig, I just included the original quote so the mention of it in the copy would make sense to those of you reading it. It's actually a front cover quote. :)But thanks for the feedback!

Congratulations, Deidre! And have fun anticipating your cover art. It's very nerve-wracking, waiting for your first cover art. Will it be great? Will it be "gack!"? It's kind of like hesitating before clicking on a link to read a review. We want to know...yet we don't.

I always preferred futuristic time travels, so this is right up my alley!

Can't wait to see it on the shelves!

It sounds like Jared is due for some distraction. I'm also looking forward to seeing your spin on the time-space elements. I've been reading a lot of non-fiction research lately, getting ready for a future set adventure I'm hoping to start in a few months. I'm staying away from time travel for my project, but the research has me seeing space-time in a whole new way.

Cheryl,
What have you been reading? I've been getting into a lot of good material on higher dimensions and parallel universes. Sounds like we might be reading some of the same books! :) Can't promise I won't be taking creative liberties with what I'm learning (not a theoretical physicist, at least not yet!), but I think you'll find the series interesting from what you've said about time-space.

I think all liberties taken in the name of a thrilling read or true love are completely justifiable, so long as they are convincing and consistent. I’m sure Parallel Attraction will be great.

I’d love to hear any recommendations you might have on research books. I’m looking more for multiple universe theories than time travel, but they seem to overlap quite a bit. I stared out with a few articles in science magazines, and then moved on from there. I recently finished Brian Greene’s The Elegant Universe, surprisingly, not so very much more difficult than the Plato I read as research for my Atlantis book. I’m reading Parallel Worlds by Michio Kaku now. I can’t claim to follow all the intricacies, but I’m certain the reading has increased the size of my brain by at least .0000000001%. ;)

Cheryl! I knew you had to be reading the same books that I am! I am about half-way through Michio Kaku's HYPERSPACE. I *love* it. He makes these concepts totally understandable. I have PARALLEL WORLDS, but haven't gotten to it yet. I'm also reading Brian Greene's ELEGANT UNIVERSE (got the DVD too--which is great.) Lots of other good stuff here. FLATLAND (always wanted to read that, and with all the dimensional discussions in Kaku, should be a very cool read.) Another book called THE ROAD TO REALITY that I'm bucking to start. A bunch more too. Those are the ones right off the top of my head. :)

That is so cool! I think Greene talks about Flatland in The Elegant Universe and there’s an article about Penrose’s ideas in the June Discover that really got me thinking. I loved the title: If An Electron Can Be In Two Places At Once Why Can’t You? Hyperspace was already on my reading list, but I’ll definitely add Flatland and The Road To Reality. Thanks for the suggestions!

Well done :)

I'm actually reading Flatland right now, but I'm mostly interested in the social commentary...
