Some of My Author Headshot Pictures

I'm tempted to save my final, final picture I chose, but I have no will. Actually, since I'm still picking, here are the major contenders at this point, and then a few fun ones just for good measure. Let me know what you think!! I am bouncing, bouncing, of course. Call me Girl of No Will.

Choice #1--the leading favorite

Choice #2--Another close favorite, but too serious for this kind of book (I think)

Choice #3--What everyone keeps calling Deidre's "I've got a secret" picture. This is a close tie with number one.

For Website--these two will be great on the site, especially the dying laughing one, which--if you know me at all--isn't a surprising picture. I personally love this one to the left, which I keep calling the "Sarah Maclachlan" shot. It's all atmospheric and poetic, like I'm a Great Woman o' Mystery. (rolls voice: yeaaaah, right)

So let me know what you think. I am almost certain I will use the first shot, but the "I've got a secret" shot is still tempting. Perhaps that should be my agent conference headshot.

Anyway, had to share! Deidre

I *love* # 3 the best, but I'd go with # 1 for your author headshot, and here's why. # 3 does have the "I've got a secret" look, and it's also on the verge of being come-hither-y (lol), BUT # 1 has a similar mischievousness while making you seem more accessible. # 3 has a bit of an aloofness to it--like that secret is holding you apart some--and I think that you want to seem more open to your readers.

So that's my take on them. I love them all as pictures of YOU--they're awesome, and you look so good! You should kiss whomever did your hair because they did a great job.

I like the one with you looking to the side. Very artsy. Also, it holds on to a touch of mystery.

I LOVE #3! I'd use that one, without a doubt, but I think they'd be neat to put one on each different page of your website.

And now I know what you look like, Oh Agents That Don't Wear Their Name Tags. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA (Kidding! Kinda)

I like Number 3 too.

Ah, but Brenda, this agent always wears HER name tag! :) I'm thinking of doing a filmstrip type thing on my site with a bunch of shots all in a row.

Lovely pictures!

I think #3 is my favorite, but I've always been of the opinion that most authors look far too serious in pictures, so I'm biased. ;)

"I've got a secret" gets my vote.

These are GREAT pics, D. I love #1 and #3 best. Wow, so many good ones to choose from. You're lucky. Usually I end up with having to choose the lesser of all the evils *g*

D, you gorgeous thing! The 1st one is my ABSOLUTE favorite. I love, love, love it! You look amazing!! I'm so jealous, too. I've got to get my own author photos.

Without a doubt, NUMBER #3!~!!!!!!!

It shows personality. A little devilish look in the eye but also intelligence.

NOOOOO comparison.

I love four but I'm a sucker for those kind of b&w artsy pics.

One is nice, too.

I love your hair. I hope that's a perm and not natural, or I'm really jealous. I like all first three pictures. I'm a little uncertain about the hand placement in #1, though. It looks a bit too...purposely placed.

LOL! See, Deidre, like I said on the other blog, you're one of the really brave agents out there. Should have known you'd wear your badge! I still love #3.

Great the idea of a film strip.

I like 1 but 2 is my favorite.

I like one for a few reasons.

A superficial reason is because it really shows off your hair, which was the first thing that caught my eye and gave me a positive first feeling.

The less superficial reasons are because I think #1 is complex. It somehow shows that you can be serious, determined, fun, witty, and no one-to-mess-with, all at the same time.

I'd say # 1 :)

I like number one and the Sarah Mc Lachlan shot (the one with you looking to the side)

Trust me on this. I spent all freaking day in Borders looking at other authros headshots and they all had really artsy stuff and I wondered why I'd never gone "artsy" with my picture.

~Diana, still undecided on hers, but leaning towards the Nora Roberts look...

I like #1 and #4, though the laughing one is funny too.

And you do look wonderful!!

I love the montage idea- can't you have 1,3,4,&5 in a classic photo booth strip? How cool would that be? But if I had to pick just one, I'd go with #3- secret to be revealed in the sequel, hee hee.

I'm going with number three. It's the way your two fingers rest on your cheek and your other ones support your head. The splayed fingers on number one just don't have the impact.

My vote is #2. My next choice is #1 would be next. And I did like the Sarah McLachlan shot.

Actually, they were all good!

My votes are for #1 and #3

Good luck choosing :)

I like #1 as well. #1 is a little more flirty, approachable. #3 is a bit more serious.

They're all great, though. (And it's nice to put a face with a name. LOL)
