A Big Day for Deidre

So, it's a big day for me (hence the happy pic)! An exciting day, one that I've been anticipating for a longtime--and no, it's not just that I'm heading to KFC for a chicken liver snack (Southern, anyone??) The fried snack is a reward because I'm in the midst of a mega writing weekend. Jud's away and the girls are at their grandparents' house, so I've been hammering on completion of PARALLEL HEAT, due in ten days. Yikes! End of book fear!

So, it's actually not any of that stuff. Not the Olympics, not the return of dreary weather (not that it would excite anyone after 70 degrees and football playing in the yard on Thursday evening!)

I'm beside myself because finally I'm able to unveil a small portion of my first novel for all of you! At last, the first excerpt has gone live and you can read the opening pages of PARALLEL ATTRACTION. Big day for me. Huge. Feels like a tiny promise of what the book's publication will be!

So I hope you'll go check out the excerpt, which is the first section of the prologue, and then post your reaction on my message board. I'm dying to know what readers think!

Now, I'm off to KFC and then back to the keyboard (of course, I'm ON the keyboard now, but you know what I mean...) Also, there is GREAT CONTEST STUFF on the website now. We're doing a fabulous Alien perfume giveaway, plus there's a pic of the ultra cool black iPod nano.
hugs!
Deidre

Ack! What a horrible thing to do to a reader...ending on such a great hook! You should be ashamed. :-)

Made me want to read it, that's for sure!

I think fried chicken livers are a perfectly acceptable way to celebrate such a big day. But then, I've lived most of my life below the Mason-Dixon line.

Alien perfume! I've heard of it but not actually seen it! Cool looking bottle.

Great stuff De! What a captivating beginning. I can't wait to see what else you have in store for us!

Congratulations, Deidre. I discovered this blog recently and have been lurking. ;) It's wonderful to see you are so well and happy!

Just to be enigmatic, I should say that I am someone from your past... hmmm, who might I be? I am pretty sure there is one clue on a blog post of my own from late March 2005...I don't think you can miss it.

Email me!We'll see if I'm right. Loved Withnail post, btw!

I love that picture of you!

Congrats on such a big accomplishment.

And yes you should be ashamed of yourself for ending that excerpt on that hook...however, you are forgiven since you promise to post more later.

;)

Oh yummy yummy yummy!!!!! A sequel AND fried chicken livers. And I can't get either of them! LOL. Denver is not so sophisticated as to have fried chicken livers. We do have a Popeye's though.

You have not idea how completely thrilled I was to find an author whose books are set in Wyoming. And you've actually visited the area too. My uncle worked in Yellowstone for years. He has a file fulle of "Stupid Things Tourists Do" (including a couple who put their toddler on the back of a bull bison to take a picture. *ack*). Between the excellent writing and the setting, I'm in love.

Awesome news! From one southern gal to the next, you should enjoy the fried chicken livers. :)

Now, I will say that everyone needs to buy PARALLEL ATTRACTION when it comes out because it's really THAT GOOD! Take it from me, I loved it.

Congrats Deidre!

Loved the pic, it made me smile.

Jax, you rock! Thanks for the great plug!! :)

Becca, I LOVE Wyoming! Do you live there? I first went when I was about eighteen and it blew my mind. I've been to Jackson Hole the past two winters and hope to make it an annual event. LOVE IT!

I've lived in Wyoming for most of my life. I adore it here. I don't live in the Jackson area (isn't it glorious), but I do live near the mountains. I can't live without them.
