Favorite Romantic Scenes of All Time: Bennie and the Jets Anyone?

It’s probably no great secret to anyone by now that I’m a huge movie hound. Love all kinds of flicks, from the artier/indie ones to the grossly commercial summer blockbusters. But I’m especially a sucker for romantic movies, and like most romance authors probably have a list of movies with favorite romantic scenes.

I thought it would be fun to do a little blog series about some of my faves. To launch, let’s start with 27 Dresses and the Bennie and the Jets scene. As if it’s not already adorable enough—as if James Marsters isn’t made of yum—that moment when he hops off the bar and finally admits that he “cried like a baby at the Keller wedding.” This, after telling her he didn’t even remember writing that particular wedding column in an effort to seem jaded and cynical. Watching the clip, it hit me that he’d be a good bet for playing Jamie Angel in my Gods of Midnight. There’s not as much of him in RED KISS, more in RED FIRE, but he’ll definitely be getting a story of his own in the future!

Take a peek at this funny, charming and romantic scene:

Below I've included a few snippets from some of the reviewers. But most of all I love to hear what my readers think! Can't wait to hear from you!

"Knight provides an intriguing new twist to both Greek mythology and legendary Spartan warriors with this searing new series, as she sets up an alternate world that begs to be explored." ─ Jill M. Smith, Romantic Times, 4 Stars: HOT

Take the Day Off! It’s Red Fire Release Day!

Today is a national holiday! Well, I’m proclaiming it is, anyway. RED FIRE RELEASE DAY! After countless hours of research, rewrites and late nights that turned into early mornings later…I am proud to share this first book in the GODS OF MIDNIGHT series! No rest for the weary though, I’ve got to get right back in the swing of things and polish off Book 2, RED KISS. However, just for today I am going to take some time to kick back, relax and enjoy myself.

I really hope you all love this series as much as I do, and I look forward to getting feedback from my readers! Click here to visit my website and find out more about RED FIRE and the amazing Not-So-Flat Ajax contest I’m running to kick-off the GODS OF MIDNIGHT series!

RED FIRE CONTEST!

If ever you’ve wished to have a sexy Spartan warrior at your beck and call, then Deidre Knight's Not-So-Flat Ajax contest (so named as a tribute to his, ahem, considerable assets) is your dream come true!

Ajax Petrakos, immortal Spartan warrior and hero of Deidre’s first Gods of Midnight novel, RED FIRE (Signet Eclipse, October 2008), has searched endlessly for Shayanna Angel, his soul-mate who was promised to him by the Oracle at Delphi 2,500 years ago. Ajax would do anything to locate this minx of a mortal, but he’s nearly lost faith that he will ever find her. Recently, rumors and rumblings are afoot that Shayanna has been spotted in modern-day U.S.A.

This is where you come in - your opportunity to assist a noble Spartan who has spent an eternity protecting you and all of humankind. Your mission is to take Ajax to a locale in your city (an historical site, a restaurant, the lake, your home), snap a photo of you and Ajax (keep it clean, ladies!), fill out the entry form on www.DeidreKnight.com, upload the photo and voilà - you’re entered to win a Nintendo© Wii or another great prize! Act quickly, because the first 100 entrants to upload their photos will receive a copy of RED FIRE.

Visit www.DeidreKnight.com for more details!

Deidre’s New Series to Launch in October with RED FIRE and PARALLEL FIRE Makes Its International Debut

Hello Friends,

I know it’s been awhile since I blogged, but now you can see what I’ve been working on! The first novel in my new GODS OF MIDNIGHT series, RED FIRE, will launch on October 7th. I can’t wait to introduce you to the seven immortal Spartan warriors who were granted immortality in exchange for protecting mankind from evil, including their number one nemesis, a powerful and crafty Persian Djinn.

Book One follows the journey of Ajax Petrakos. Check out the cover copy below for a sneak peak:

“Powerfully sensual and mind-blowing,” Deidre Knight’s novels have set the standard for boldly erotic paranormal romance. Now she unleashes an electrifying new series in which seven Spartan warriors, immortal protectors of humankind, battle their passions…a weakness that can only bring their downfall.
– Romance B(u)y the Book

Eternity has become a prison for Ajax Petrakos. Centuries after he and his Spartan brothers made their bargain for immortality, Ajax struggles to maintain his warrior’s discipline. His only source of strength is his hope that he will soon meet the woman once foretold to him—the other half of his soul, Shay Angel.

Ajax searches for Shay on the haunted streets of modern-day Savannah, but an ancient enemy has already found her. The youngest of a powerful demon-hunting clan, she can see the monsters that stalk the steamy southern night… an ability that draws the deadly attention of Ajax’s worst enemy.

As she and Ajax race to decipher the rest of the prophecy, a fated passion arises, threatening to sweep away everything in its path.

RED FIRE is currently available through presales on Amazon. Stay tuned for more tidbits about this thrilling new series, as well as some fantastic giveaways designed to stoke your “Spartan love!” In anticipation of RED FIRE’s release, I have launched a new message board. Hope you will swing by and check it out!

For those of you still hungering for more of my Midnight Warrior series (the PARALLEL books), I have a special announcement. Samhain Publishing has exclusively re-released PARALLEL FIRE, A MIDNIGHT WARRIOR’S NOVELLA. Previously, the book was only available in the United States and I’m so excited that all my worldwide fans will now have access to this steamy tale of Anna and Nevin becoming stranded in Yellowstone. Stranded and with a whole lot of time on their hot little hands, that is! Here is a link to the novella.

Check back soon for more updates on RED FIRE and the many other exciting projects we have on the horizon.

Best,

Deidre
