Is Ten PM Too Late for a Nap?

I'm guessing I just need to go to bed. :) I spent the day taking my oldest daughter to Six Flags, and it was a glorious, amazing, very good day. However, I'm spent.

Still, I had to buzz by here and share my major news. It's official now--I'm writing The Parallel Series! We knew book one was PARALLEL ATTRACTION, as many of you are aware. As of yesterday, my book two and three titles were approved. So, drum roll....

Book Number Two, publishing in October '06 will be PARALLEL HEAT
Book Number Three, publishing in April '07 will be PARALLEL SEDUCTION

I'm all aflutter! And couldn't wait to share.

More tomorrow.

Hey,

Major congratulations on the titling of your series.

Hmmm--PARALLEL ATTRACTION/HEAT/SEDUCTion. I love those titles. They have a real edge to them. Plus-- they have that unusuality factor. They're not titles I'd forget very easily.

Congrats on naming the series! Love the titles. :)

As for going to bed at ten... well... I used to take a half hour to an hour long nap at about ten and then be up most of the night. So it's not completely unheard of. Then again, I'm a nightowl. ;)

YAY, Deidre!!! Titles can be rough -- as you know.

Awesome, Deidre! Congrats!

I am amazed that you can find time to write, though. I could never write anything much till I quit working full time (and yes, being a stay-at-home mom is full time work too, but it does provide one with brief periods of peace to dive for the computer and type frantically). I know agents have ridiculously busy schedules, and I'm terribly impressed that you manage to get writing done as well.

Thanks so much, y'all! I love coming with titles for pretty much everyone else but myself. OR, I love writing a story that starts wtih a title (that happens a lot.)

As for time, Ellen, well it's always a struggle, but I think the biggest secret for me is that I am a daily writer. It's a long-standing habit, and it feels weirder *not* to write--at least for a few minutes--almost every day than not. But I do get asked that a lot (even Mary Jo Putney asked me that recently!)

The other secret for me is that I have an amazing husband who wants to help me achieve my dreams. He takes the kids at different times, and thereby "buys me" some writing time in blocks.

Otherwise, it's also the cumulative effect of: time in airports, time in hotel rooms, time in coffee shops, time after the kids are in bed, time when I'd rather sleep--time when everyone else IS sleeping. And a whole lot of desire to simply *be* writing.

That's really it for me. How about you guys? How do you all make it work?
